Overview
Chick Embryo Extract (CEE) is a cell culture medium component. This means it is used in the supplementation of certain growth media formulations. You can save time and money by purchasing our quality-assured, cost-effective and easy-to-use product that can be supplied in one of two formulations – lyophilised or frozen liquid. Lyophilised material is supplied as a powdered format for reconstitution before use and may be shipped and stored at ambient temperatures in the powdered form. Both the lyophilised and frozen forms of CEE have a shelf life of 5 years.
CEE is a traditional cell culture supplement that is used for the cultivation of neuronal cells but is also used for certain stem cell applications. CEE is produced from Bovans Goldline embryos. Eggs are collected from registered chicken flocks in the United Kingdom. The material is then processed and filtered to 0.2 micron before bottling and storage.
Successful in vitro cultivation of rat neural crest stem cells (NCSC) and other neural explants requires a specific neural crest stem cell medium (NCSCM). Supplementation with CEE provides a source of essential growth factors.
In addition, CEE has successfully been used in the expansion of many specific stem cell types and has demonstrated the ability to facilitate DNA demethylation. Further examples of how CEE has been used in research applications can be found under ‘Literature’ in the resources section.
LSP offers samples of CEE for testing before the selection of a suitable batch. The typical sample size is 10 mL and reservations are held for a period of four weeks, pending evaluation.
